This body of work explores the relationship between abstract beauty and the basic infrastructure of the modern day city; specifically the freeways around the Bay Area. Overpasses interest me because they're simultaneously utilitarian, monolithic, and beautiful. I love concrete as a material; it's strong, but can still curve and bend. I thought of the most memorable intersections of road and stopped either on or near the freeways to photograph them.
